Tri-Cities Work Release of correction is a state prison located in Kennewick, Washington. The Tri-Cities Work Release is run by the Washington Department of Corrections (DOC) who offer the inmates the following programs in a bid to help them reform:

  • Anger management; the program seeks to help violent inmates manage their anger.
  • Basic adult education; inmates are given the priceless opportunity to learn beneficial crafts they can use to earn a living when released.
  • GED
  • Drug and substance abuse; the Tri-Cities Work Release helps drug users get over their addictions
  • Vocational training; automotive service and repair

Inmates are also offered dental, mental, and other medical services while contributing to society through community service and provision of labor for public agencies around the Tri-Cities Work Release.

Sending a mail/package

One of the most important parts of the rehabilitation process is to ensure that the personal relationship with friends and relatives is kept healthy. All inmates at the Tri-Cities Work Release are allowed to send or even receive emails from anyone with the exemption of correspondence between an inmate and their victim, an inmate and a minor, inmate and another inmate and any other person who is prohibited by the Washington court. Before any written document is sent to a particular inmate, it is usually investigated. Experts are employed to read any coded or untranslatable language.

The incoming mails are strictly inspected to dispose of contrabands and can only be delivered if they have a return address; a mail without a return address is disposed of with other disallowed items.

Publications such as books and magazines are allowed into the Tri-Cities Work Release. However, they have to be directly sourced from the publishers or bought from a recognized store.

Sending money

The offenders in Tri-Cities Work Release are allowed to receive funds from both relatives and friends for deposit into their inmate telephone account and commissary account. Offenders at Tri-Cities Work Release are expected to have a trust account set up when booked into Tri-Cities Work Release. Money can then be deposited for use in the purchase of commissaries not provided at the center. Loved ones can deposit money into these trust accounts through the following ways:

The money received can be used to buy a wide variety of items for the prisoner from the commissary store.

Phone calls

The inmates at Tri-Cities Work Release are allowed to make outgoing calls and prepaid calls only. The service has been made easy and available at their website where you can deposit funds to an inmate’s prepaid telephone account. However, there is no instance where you will be allowed to make an incoming call to the inmate. You are not also allowed to ask the jail staff to pass any kind of message to an inmate.

Visitation

The Tri-Cities Work Release acknowledges the importance of family and friends in the re-entry process, hence encouraging virtual and onsite visits under strict guidelines. Visitors are expected to apply for visits before they are allowed to see the inmates. The visiting schedule is determined by Washington DOC.

There are specific days and time when you can visit a certain inmate at the Tri-Cities Work Release However, you have to undergo an approval process. Once permitted you can visit an inmate during walk-in hours, that is from Thursday all through Sundays. The visiting sessions are 8:30am – 10-30am, and 1:30pm – 3:30pm.
